Apparently this man is one to keep an eye out for this year. If this mix is anything to go by then this statement is correct. His set can be described in two words; Proper + Techno. Had this one on at the weekend when I held a party at my house. Its safe to say my guests enjoyed this mix by Mr. Hulme

EXCLUSIVE! Bassline Orientated Peak TIme Nonsense by Rossco

What have we got here? Fat bass and wobbles. The kind of stuff that makes people jump around like crazed lunitics who have escaped from the asylum and raided an off license. The kind of music you might hear If you go to the legendary Spaceball in Dundee (where apparently the lunitics flock to in thier droves.) I know what your thinking - Is It Spaceball or Dundee the lunicitcs flock to? Well the short answer to that is... both! Anyway if I was you, I would download this, its pretty dam jumpin'

EXCLUSIVE! New mix from Rossco

Rossco has just finished a new mix for the warm weather coming in. Its house from the word go but not in a conventional sense. Excellent grooves from the Spaceball resident who has reinvented his sound once again in 2009. I couldn't stop moving around to this happy go lucky mix as I played it back to myself. Very nice sounds from start to finish, super funky and a wee bit silly too. Word has it there will be another mix to follow on from this in the coming days.

Bryan Jones WMC 2009 Mix

Winter has now officially ended. Spring has arrived. Its almost time to get the bbq and a few beers out and head for the sand. This mix of Chicago House by Bryan Jones would be fitting for a day out in the sun with a few beers and some burgers of the disco variety. Its proper house music in a traditional sense, very funky, very happy and very organic from start to finish with lots of nice percussion, bass and no gay singing.

Kate Simko Live Techno Set

Recently I stopped smoking. Today was day number 9 and fairly frustrating and irritating at points. To say this techno set by Kate Simko soothed me is an understatement. Very hypnotic and fairly minimal at times. If you are looking for some in your face, jump up, hands in the air action this one is not for you. What makes Kate's set so enjoyable is all the little subtleties and well sculpted sounds.
All in all I found this set very nice to listen to. Once or twice I thought It was going to start getting boring only for a new cool sound to come in and kick start things again.

Cool Electronic Musical Instrument

How cool is this thing?
The designer describes it as "A set of a recorder, a glove with sound sensors and a pair headphones helps musicians create and record their own sounds and rhythms. The point is in friction between surfaces and sensors. Different types of surfaces enable the user to make sounds and create a rhythm by tapping. The recorder attached to the glove runs a piece of software which records sounds in preset modes and plays them via wireless headphones in real time. Such recording is an input for further editting and electronic music creation."
Sounds like an amazing concept. Just a pity it doesnt actually exist yet.

Damien Lazerus: Lazpod #11

Heres a little something for a midweek night and a couple of spliffs. Damien Lazerus's latest offereing is something of a blast from the past. Any of you who were listeners of The Breezeblock on BBC's Radio One, back in days when it was good will relish this little number.
In the words of Damien himself:
"For this show I turned out the lights in the studio, made myself a nice cup of tea, settled the cats down in the corner, pulled out some priceless old gems and pressed record.
There is no chat on this show; and no special audio trickery; just me, you and some psychedelic beauties."
Don't expect to hear any electronic music in this one. What you can expect is a journey through past psycedelic rock and soul treasures

DJmag's Marc '01' on the Yamaha Tenori-On
DJmag reviewer Marc '01' has put together this awesome demo of the Yamaha Tenori-On. Marc took advantage of all the features available to make this awesome clip in one take. The editing you see is just of the visuals, not of the sound. It sounds unlike any other Tenori-On performance because he's loaded in his own samples alongside the built-in synthesizer.
Street Fighter Battle vinyl
This one just had to go up on the old blog. Who can forget the endless days, sleepless nights and sore fingers caused by street fighter II. If you like messing around with retro samples, you need this one in the collection. Even if it was never used, it would still look good on the wall!Buy it here:

Here we have his latest mix. Its a bit of a slow starter, for me it really kicks off around 11 minutes but after that its totally rippin' for most of the way

Welcome
I have decided to create a blog about my world of underground electronic music. My hope is create a popular resource of information for fans, DJs and producers alike. I myself am a DJ, sound engineer and producer with many years experience. I live and breath dance music and I want to share my knowledge with you.
One of my reasons for this is that in today's world of the digital DJ almost anyone can write a track, good or bad and release it digitally for absolutely no cost other than a computer and an Internet connection. This has led to a sea of poor dance music which every DJ and enthusiast must swim through to find the gems. However on the other side of the coin, the improvements in technology have meant there is also a wealth of amazing tunes out there.
